At the top of Haleakala, Maui with my son Caleb.  The Solar Telescope and Science City are in the background.  It took me 7 hours to ride from Kaanapali to the 10,000ft summit.  As you can see, cycling is a hobby.

Jeff Holmes: Christ follower, preacher, consultant, pastor, husband, dad, writer.

This year, I stepped out as a consulting pastor working on organizational development, messaging, and strategic planning within organizations.

I am also working as a speaker, bringing the Good News of the Gospel and integrating my doctoral work on identity development as well as my work on a theology of failure (See this blog post to get an idea of that).

I am all about helping people grow in their faith and trust in Jesus.  I want to create spaces, both virtual and in real life, that allow people to develop stronger faith.  Hopefully in the process it will be fun and a lot of honest, authentic people and stories will be encountered along the way.

Background:

I was born in Fullerton, CA and grew up in Escondido just outside San Diego.

Moved to Austin, TX (Westlake to be specific) when I was starting 6th grade.  I went to Jr. High, Sr. High and College in Austin, graduating from UT Austin in 1990 (Hook 'em!)

I raced to Laguna Beach, CA to be with my best friend, accountability partner and the best hand holder and kisser I'll ever know.   Marci and I married in 1991 and have grown in love, friendship and passion ever since (not all roses but even the hard has been good)

I attended Fuller Seminary in Pasadena while working at Trabuco Presbyterian Church founding a youth ministry for the new church plant.

When I graduated Fuller in 1996, I went to work at La Jolla Presbyterian Church.  I helped develop a youth ministry, Mission Ministry and outreach service for a younger generation.

I moved to Gilroy, CA to take build a church that would reach the unchurched, serve the world and develop disciples.  I am still on that project.
